Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar Time Tables

Zanzibar Map

There are several ferries servicing the short route regularly through the day. The port is close to the centre of town in both Dar es Salaam and Stone Town. If you intend to travel from Arusha to Dar by bus remember to leave early [06h00 bus is you can] as the travel time is about ten to twelve hours.

Tickets can be bought at the port but you will have to brave the ticket touts who earn a living from commission from ticket sales. Watch out for pickpockets.

The Sea Star seems to be the most popular and reliable ferry. The overnight ferry is only overnight in one direction which is from Stone town to the mainland.
